Shreveport Breast Cancer Survivor Featured in October issue of Ebony Magazine

Sisters Network Shreveport Chapter Founder and 4 year advanced stage breast cancer survivor Crystal Brown-Tatum shares her cancer journey in Ebony Magazine

Sept. 20, 2011 - PRLog -- Crystal Brown-Tatum, CEO of Crystal Clear Communications and local community breast cancer advocate, is featured in the October 2011 issue of Ebony magazine. Ebony (Circulation: 1,169,870) is an African American oriented consumer interest publication, covering literature, arts, personalities, civil rights, sports entertainment, music, social events and health. This marks Brown-Tatum’s 2nd feature in the publication as she was a 2006 Ebony Magazine Top Bachelorette.

Brown-Tatum was diagnosed with stage IIIA breast cancer in 2007 at the age of 35. She is the author of "Saltwater Taffy and Red High Heels: My Journey Through Breast Cancer" which details her journey from diagnosis, treatment and recovery. Disappointed at the lack of resources for young African American breast cancer patients, she recently founded the 44th affiliate chapter of Sisters Network Inc. in Shreveport. Sisters Network Inc. is the nation’s only African American Breast Cancer Survivorship Organization in the United States. Headquartered in Houston, Texas, Sisters Network Inc. is dedicated to reducing the deadly impact the disease has in the African American community.

The October issue features singer Mary J. Blige on the cover and is available on newsstands across the U.S.
