By: Katie O'Lone FATHER CHRISTMAS HAS BEEN PAPPED ON HIS WAY TO LEADING HOTELS… London, October 2011-- Parents planning a holiday during Christmas won’t have to hear a child’s anguished cry of distress, “But how will Father Christmas find me if we’re not at home?” when they reserve their end-of-year holiday at any of a number of Leading Hotels. We have it on the finest authority that Father Christmas – with the aid of his marvellous elves – will make his way to all good little girls and boys, whether it be by land, by sea or by air, even if he arrives without his trusty reindeer. At Halekulani, Father Christmas swaps his sleigh and reindeer for a canoe. This year he is scheduled to arrive at 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve, paddling in to Gray’s Beach in front of the hotel, where performers will sing and dance hula to welcome him. Festivities then move on to the ballroom where the hotel hosts a special party for guests’ children complete with games, crafts, and an opportunity for the little ones to have their pictures taken with Father Christmas, who offers them each a small gift. Following the children’s party, Santa attends a special manager’s reception for the adults (kids are welcome). www.LHW.com/ Early morning on Christmas Day, all of the children living on or visiting Hayman, Australia's celebrated private island in the Great Barrier Reef, gather excitedly on the Hayman Beach for a special visit from Father Christmas. Considering the island’s distance from the mainland, he has to make a rather dramatic entrance – via helicopter! – accompanied by a band of elves. Some of his helpers arrive via surfboard. Once on the island, it is time for presents as Father Christmas and his crew give all the little guests a special gift. www.LHW.com/ At Kanuhura in the exotic Maldives, no one knows ahead of time just how Father Christmas will arrive – he changes his mode of transportation each year. A reindeer-drawn sleigh, however, is not among his vehicles of choice. Sometimes he comes on a motorbike, sometimes on water skis – and sometimes he makes an especially grand entrance on a catamaran all decorated for Christmas. Once he reaches the resort on 25 December, whatever the transport, he makes his way to the beach where he mingles with the guests and offers presents to every child. www.LHW.com/ In Italy, Christmas is celebrated in the south on 24 December a special dinner and on 25 December with a festive lunch in the central and northern regions. So Father Christmas works his way up the country, no doubt feeling rather full by the evening of the 25th. This year, Fonteverde Tuscan Resort & Spa will celebrate both days, so Father Christmas will pull up in style in a vintage MG-A during Christmas Eve dinner, and make another appearance during lunch on Christmas Day. He will, of course, bring gifts for the children. www.LHW.com/ After travelling the rest of the world on Christmas Eve, Father Christmas arrives on the island of Mauritius on the morning of 25 December – on water skis – taking advantage of the gentle ocean front of the Royal Palm Hotel. After demonstrating his aquatic skills for a bit, he disappears – as only Father Christmas can do! – and then cleverly reappears seconds later in the bar area where children and their parents are waiting. Rewarding the young ones for their patience, he then takes them all to the resort’s mini-club to begin the distribution and opening of the gifts. The celebrations conclude with a Christmas-themed show for the children. www.LHW.com/ About The Leading Hotels of the World, Ltd.
