By: Premier Guitar A Nebraska native, Jeffers brings seven years of wide-ranging experience to Premier Guitar. She received her journalism degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she worked as an arts editor and reporter. She honed her investigative reporting skills as an arts editor and managing editor at the Omaha Reader, where she received an Omaha Press Club award for enterprise reporting on the subject of wind energy. Jeffers subsequently steered the editorial coverage of Today’s Omaha Woman, a bilingual Spanish newspaper called El Perico, as well as the Chicago real estate magazine Blockshopper. Most recently, Jeffers spent two years in the Middle East as managing editor for Abode, a leading lifestyle magazine in Doha, Qatar. While there, she helped to redesign the syndicated, fashion-centric magazine to focus more on local news anchored by quality interviews, reporting, and design. “After working abroad in a high-pressure atmosphere, I made the conscious decision that my next move would be to a company with an artistic vision,” Jeffers said. “It was important for me to be involved in an exciting publishing company with a focus on my passions—and music is at the top, for me.” Jeffers has been published in Spin, and was a guest lecturer at Northwestern University in Qatar’s Medill School of Journalism. A published poet, she holds a minor in English and is working on a book about her experience as a female journalist in the Arab world. PG editor in chief Shawn Hammond is excited about the new hire. “Over the last couple of years, we’ve been growing at an incredible rate. It’s been a fun and exhilarating ride, and in the process we’ve been coming up with tons of ideas for how to make Premier Guitar even more enjoyable and useful for viewers and readers. But in order to make those new ideas a reality, we needed another team member with a passion for music and a proven ability to make things happen. Tessa has both of those in spades, but she also has an adventurous spirit—as her gutsy dive into a daunting gig halfway around the world proves—as well as an easygoing, positive vibe that fits PG to a T. You’ll be seeing some really great stuff from us in the very near future, and Tessa will play a big part in that.” About Premier Guitar As the leading multimedia source for guitar news, gear info, and instruction, PG is the media home for players who are serious about their tone and who have a passion for all things guitar-related.
