Follow on Google News | NYLCV Endorses Kara Hahn For Suffolk County LegislatureThe New York League of Conservation Voters, which works to make environmental sustainability a top political and policy priority in New York State, has announced its endorsement of Kara Hahn for Suffolk County Legislature in District 5.
By: Dan Hendrick Kara Hahn is the Director of Communications for the Suffolk County Legislature and the President of the Civic Association of the Setaukets and Stony Brook. She has worked on numerous environmental initiatives for the Legislature, such as LEED standards for county buildings, the preservation of Detmer Farm, Smoke Run Farm, and the Suffolk County Save Open Space (SOS) fund, the Toxin Free Toddlers and Babies Act, and the ban on the selling of coal tar sealers. Hahn is passionate about making mass transportation efficient and accessible, and creating walkable, livable, environmentally thriving communities the area. “Suffolk County needs leaders who understand that sustainability is not a luxury – it is, in fact, the way forward to a stronger economy and healthier future,” said Marcia Bystryn, president of the New York League of Conservation Voters. “Because of her long list of accomplishments and plan for a greener future, the New York League of Conservation Voters is proud to endorse Kara Hahn for Suffolk County Legislator.” In response to the endorsement, Hahn said: “I am proud to have the confidence and support of such an esteemed environmental organization.
