Junior Golf Rankings – New Point Based Ranking System for Junior Golfers

Oct. 17, 2011 - PRLog -- JACKSONVILLE, FL (October 17, 2011) –  GolfTRC is proud to announce a new Junior Golf ranking system for all major junior golf tours and tournaments combined, and the first that includes International play. This was created to enhance the playing opportunities and standards of all junior tours, giving more junior golfers the ability to find top ranked events in their state or region. What makes this point based ranking system different is that it assigns levels to different tournaments based on yardage, slope, and course rating. Meaning, the more tournaments junior golfers plan in, the more points they will be rewarded.

The main goal of this new ranking system is to create equal opportunity for all tournament directors and junior golfers alike. The GolfTRC Junior Golf Ranking system was developed to fill the void left by other junior golf ranking systems that base their rankings on rating or handicaps. This points system will encourage a state or regional tour to host larger, more demanding events to earn a top rating. Juniors will not have to incur the added expense of traveling across the country just to find a highly ranked competitive tournament.

It is a five level ranking system. Level 5 is for junior golfers who are just beginning and just learning the game of golf. Level 4 is for junior golfers looking to play in a fun, friendly, atmosphere where Pace of Play, Timing, and Rules are all taught.

Levels 1-3 are where we start the rankings. These are for serious junior golfers and it requires some form of junior golf membership. Levels include regional, national, international events at advanced slope, rating, and yardage combinations.

"Many individual tours across the country have a point based system for their individual tournaments and players. We have built upon this concept, built our own version of an International system and standards, including all the Tour events across the USA, Mexico and Canada, into one point based system. Point based systems, unlike handicap systems, encourage play which is essential for junior golfers preparing to play collegiate golf,” said Georgina Lewis CEO of the Tour Resource Center.
