Birdair, Inc. Awarded Empire City Casino Contract

Oct. 18, 2011 - PRLog -- Birdair, Inc., the leading specialty contractor of lightweight long-span roofing systems and tensile structures of all sizes throughout the world, has been awarded the contract to provide a pneumatic roofing system for a newly constructed porte-cochere at the Empire City Casino at Yonkers Raceway in Yonkers, New York.

Birdair has been awarded a design-build contract for an approximately 11,000 square foot casino porte-cochere. The material selected for the drop-off canopy is ETFE, or ethylene tetrafluoroethylene, a transparent film that is lightweight, flexible and sustainable. ETFE will cover a steel lattice shell structure to create a dramatic sculptural entrance canopy.

The ETFE material can last over 20 years without losing its transparency or strength. Due to its nonstick surface, ETFE resists airborne pollutants, making it chemically resistant and naturally self-cleaning.
