Follow on Google News | European Debt Crisis. Export through Telecommunication – A World of DifferenceThe European Debt Crisis currently dominates the news. EU leaders fail to come up with a proper solution to this crisis. The business sector thinks its time for action and comes up with its own solutions. TeleForwarding's CEO Lasonder explains.
By: TeleForwarding In 1951, the European Coal and Steel Community, forerunner of the European Union, was founded with the underlying objective of creating solidarity and stimulating European integration. On May 9th, 1950 Robert Schuman, one of the founding fathers of the ECSC, declared: “This way, there will be realized simply and speedily that fusion of interest which is indispensable to the establishment of a common economic system.” Today, the economic unity that Europe so desired seems to have become an important cause for its debt crisis. The various European economies are now so intricately linked that the pain of a Greek or Portuguese loss can be felt in all European countries and billions are spent in order to limit the resulting debts. Although the crisis reaches beyond Europe - several media recently reported that the European crisis slows the economic growth in Asia - globalization and international trade still provide companies with a possible way out of the economic crisis. Only last year, the Dutch magazine Tijdschrift Controlling declared that multinational companies have a greater chance to pull through the crisis than their local competition: Hans Lasonder, CEO at TeleForwarding, itself active in several countries, explains: “A multinational company can always find an economic growth region able to compensate losses from another region. Furthermore, good ideas from foreign markets can be applied to the domestic market.” Of course, not every organization will be able to found offices in several countries, especially under the current economic circumstances. A simple and quick solution to this problem, Lasonder claims, can be found in telecommunications. By installing a universal toll free number, like a UIFN or 00800 number (Universal International Freephone Number), an ITFN or 0800 number (International Toll Free Number) or a geographic number companies can become visible to their clients on a local level, without the need for a physical presence on every location. As such, toll free numbers can considerably lower the threshold for taking that ‘international step’. Moreover, (0)0800 numbers and geographical numbers can easily be activated in any location which enables companies to respond quickly to local crises or growth. Thus, by making a small investment, an immense visibility can be realized that will increase profit (R.O.I.). This will sound good to any firm currently feeling the effects of the economic crisis, Lasonder claims, for: “Eventually it will be the business community that will have to pay the price for the public domain’s failure to act.” A simple solution to the whole crisis? No, telecommunication cannot provide such an answer either, however, “ universal toll free service numbers can stimulate international trade and support your worldwide export with the proper technology and customer service. Hereby, your organization will realize growth in its own branch of industry and will be able to prepare itself to pay the price of the debt crisis that will soon be sending its invoice.” Is your company ready to pay the price of the current crisis?
