By: Susan W. Morgan Conveniently located at 27616 Commerce Oaks Drive in Oak Ridge North, Camp Bow Wow The Woodlands’ state-of-the- Camp Bow Wow The Woodlands is so dedicated to keeping canine Campers healthy, happy and clean they’ve created the Pamper Camp grooming center, where cleaning up dirty dogs is their specialty. Pups can enjoy Pamper Camp services even if they are not attending Camp. The salon has it’s own special entrance. A variety of Pamper Camp grooming packages are available to choose from such as a half-day of Camp spent socializing in the play yards before heading to the grooming room for a Camp Shower, brush out and a puppy pedi. Additional Pamper Camp services include haircuts, ear cleaning and teeth cleaning. “The safety and happiness of all of our Campers is our first priority,” said Kristl Franklin. “We make sure that all of the pups in our care get plenty of exercise, play and human attention. The all-day play environment is great for dogs. They can go between the indoor, climate-controlled play areas and the adjacent outside yards at will. They never have to wait for a walk, and can decide for themselves whether they’d like to run with the pack, climb on play bridges or curl up in a sunny nook for a nap.” Outside the fenced-in play areas are carpeted with canine “astro-turf.” “Sending your dog to Camp helps to alleviate the stress that many pet guardians feel when leaving their pup at home alone all day,” said Lee Franklin, “because they know they’re having fun at Camp. By the end of the day our Campers are happy, tired and ready to relax.” Overnight Campers at Camp Bow Wow The Woodlands retreat to one of the Camp’s 57 private, climate-controlled cabins, for dinner, downtime and a tasty Campfire Treat™. The spacious cabins, furnished with comfy cots and soft fleece blankets, are large enough to accommodate several Campers from the same family upon request. Guardians of overnight Campers are encouraged to bring their pup’s food from home to avoid upset stomachs. All campers at Camp Bow Wow are under the constant supervision of a Certified Camp Counselor®, trained in pet CPR, first aid, dog behavior, group play dynamics and safety/health management. Camp Bow Wow The Woodlands is staffed with one counselor to every 15 Campers. To further ensure the safety and security of all, new Campers are required to participate in a free interview day, before they attend camp. Canine Campers must be at least four months old; spayed or neutered if six months or older; up-to-date on their rabies and distemper vaccinations; “All animals need love and attention, no matter the species,” continued Lee Franklin. “That’s why we’re also offering in-home pet care services through our Home Buddies by Camp Bow Wow® franchise. Home Buddies is a perfect solution for mixed pet families. We’ll come to your home to walk your pup, pet your cats or feed your snakes. It’s also a great option for dogs who aren’t eligible to attend Camp – newborn pups or elderly dogs or those that prefer their solitude.” Home Buddies all-inclusive packages include services like overnight care, daily walks, pooper scooper back yard clean-ups and live in-home Home Buddies Cams™ so pet parents can look in on their brood at home from anywhere in the world. A complimentary in-home visit is required prior to Home Buddies first day caring for a pet family. Appointments can then be made up to the last minute. The Franklins have been animal lovers since they were children, and are thrilled with the opportunity to channel their passion as the basis of a growing business. Camp Director Tanya and her assistant Timothy are both trained Vet Techs, experienced in caring for animals of all species. Camp Bow Wow The Woodlands is currently working with The Lone Star Animal Welfare League to foster two homeless pups at Camp on a regular basis.
