By: Boy Sees Hearts Eric Telchin’s mission is simple: Change the world, one heart at a time. While hosting a party in July 2009, Eric saw a puddle of melted ice cream form a heart on his kitchen counter. Since then, he has captured 3000 hearts and makes artwork from the unaltered iPhone images. With Boy Sees Hearts prints, he encourages the viewer to discover beauty in their own surroundings. Dial Books for Young Readers, an esteemed imprint of Penguin Young Readers Group, will publish a book of Telchin’s hearts in Fall 2012 that will be marketed to readers of all ages and will convey Boy Sees Hearts’ universal message: Love is everywhere. “The best thing about Boy Sees Hearts is not what I create, though,” Telchin adds. “It’s how it changes the viewer’s perception of their world. Then they start seeing hearts. That’s something that will last a lifetime.” Eric has seen and captured 3000 hearts since that sweet puddle formed. His prints have been featured prominently on ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, luxury retail web sites, newspapers, international magazines and blogs. His charitable organization, Kids See Hearts brings the brand’s inspiring message to elementary school children. His first Kids See Hearts visit commenced on February 14, 2011. Since that day he has shared the hearts with 1000 elementary school students in South Florida schools. Mrs. Reisner’s 2010-2011 second grade class at Margate Florida will be thrilled to see the book next fall. After all, they’ve been seeing hearts since Eric’s visit last March. “Hearts have changed my life,” wrote one student, several months after the Kids See Hearts symposium. “When I see a heart it makes me think of love,” said Vasha. Sharia added, “You’ve changed my life. Now I see hearts all over the place!” If an oil spill can change the world, so can a puddle of melted ice cream, right? http://www.fashionstake.com/ FashionStake (www.fashionstake.com) PRAISE FOR BOY SEES HEARTS: AHA LIFE: “poetic and inspiring...it’ “he has started a nationwide heart shape collecting movement.” “If someone had told us a few weeks ago that we would fall in love with a poster that featured a heart motif we would have laughed and referred them to our 8-year-old niece. That is before we discovered Boy Sees Hearts ingenious and spontaneous works of art, which changed the way we saw hearts forever.” BELIEFNET: “A love phenomenon.” NAAG FASHION: “We love Eric Telchin’s Boy Sees Hearts project so much. So take a hard look for the love in your food, your messes, your accidents, your life and snap away! We think there are few art projects more loving than this! THE WASHINGTON POST – CELEBRITOLOGY “We at Celebritology can say we knew him before he started seeing hearts.” YOUNG + PRETTY: “A form of art that has changed lives.” DESIGN MOM: “I love this! ...Wouldn’t that be a fun hobby to encourage your kids to adopt?” SUN SENTINEL: “It’s a power that comes not just from believing in the unexpected but in sharing inspiration with others...Its magic comes not just in the power of sharing it, but in the new way people begin to look at the scenery around them — and the different ways they find to connect with a simple shape.” “It’s a gift that continues to be rewrapped, and re-gifted.” ECOSALON’S 2011 WEDDING GIFT GUIDE: “We love Eric Telchin’s motifs, which are spontaneously and ingeniously crafted out of unaltered iPhone snapshots of hearts...Soon he was seeing hearts everywhere, in kitty litter and on dogs, just like you did in those heady early days of your courtship. Now that you’re getting married, get your kicks where you can.” MIXING REALITY: “A very cool way to say ‘I love you.’” NY METRO PARENTS: “Eye-catching artwork that inspires smiles.” FLAVOR PILL: “Edgy, clever and fresh -- all adjectives we never thought we’d associate with something as clichéd as a heart.” # # # Eric Telchin sees randomly occurring hearts in everything from coffee grinds to cat litter. He captures these iPhone hearts and transforms them into representational and abstract art. Boy Sees Hearts has been featured on network prime-time TV and more. End
