California State Assembly Proclaims November 12, 2011 as Toastmasters’ Day

The California State Assembly proclaimed November 12, 2011 as Toastmasters’ Day in the state of California. The proclamation was read on the floor of the State Assembly. Assemblymember Jerry Hill will present the proclamation on November 12, 2011.

(San Mateo, CA, USA, November 12, 2011) – The California State Assembly proclaimed November 12, 2011 as Toastmasters’ Day in the state of California. The proclamation was read on the floor of the State Assembly. Assemblymember Jerry Hill, representing the 19th Assembly District (includes the cities in San Mateo County), will present the proclamation to Toastmasters District 4 Governor Jennifer Stephenson at the 2011 District 4 Fall Conference on November 12, 2011. The Fall Conference will be held at the Embassy Suites, Burlingame CA. The proclamation will be displayed after the presentation for conference attendees to view.

The proclamation reads:

WHEREAS,   the ability to communicate, persuade and lead in an effective manner is a powerful tool in overcoming many barriers to effective performance and advancement in virtually every endeavor and line of work; and

WHEREAS,   being the largest non-profit educational organization dedicated to helping men and women in all walks of life to improve and develop their communication and leadership skills, Toastmasters International performs a valuable service to its members and others of opportunity, initiative, and good fellowship; and

WHEREAS,   Toastmasters International was founded on October 22, 1924, boasting eighty-six years of outstanding achievement, and have grown to more than 13000 clubs and over 270,000 members in 116 countries worldwide; and

WHEREAS,   Toastmasters International District 4 consists of over 220 clubs and over 4,200 members from Monterey to San Francisco including 32 clubs in the County of San Mateo located from the top of San Mateo County in Brisbane and Daly City to the coast side of Pacifica to the seat of San Mateo County in Redwood City. Both corporate and community clubs proudly list their home in San Mateo County. These clubs include All EArs Club, Breathe in Speak out, Brisbane Club: Speaking Under the Stars, Chamber Speakers Circle Club, City Talk Club, Daly City Toastmasters, Donald L Bogie Club, Fresh Voice, Foster City Toastmasters Club, GToast, Genentech Toastmasters Club, High Spirits of Toastmasters, Life Technologies Toastmasters Club, Millbrae'ers Club, Opa! WHEREAS,   the Toastmasters International District 4 Fall Conference is being held at the Embassy Suites, Burlingame on Saturday, November 12, 2011 including a semi-annual speech contest, business meeting and educational presentations from special guests about communication and leadership skills.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Jerry Hill, Assembly member and on behalf of the State of California, do hereby proclaim Saturday, November 12, as

in the State of California, and encourage my fellow citizens to observe this day by recognizing the many accomplishments and opportunities in communication, public speaking and leadership skills that Toastmasters International has made possible to people everywhere.
