A Vision In White - Very Rare Albino Pheasant Spotted In Peak District

Peak District Online's Wildlife Photographer explains his surprise.James Dobson, aka wildlife photographer Villager Jim shot (with his camera) a bird in several million, with an albino pheasant , an incredibly rare bird.

Nov. 15, 2011 - PRLog -- A type of pheasant, or so Jim surmised after the shock had worn off, was walking straight towards him. It was the same shape and size as a female but they don't normally come in white.  There were no other eye catching features to be seen other, than the red around the eye -  unlike the typical male pheasant with its resplendent plumage or the mottled browns the female normally parades.

"I've never seen or heard of anything like it," laughs James. "I've photographed some stunning birds over the years but I must say this will be one I'll remember for a long, long time. It was a very special moment and I feel very privileged to have seen her." James went straight home to do some research and realized he had seen a very rare sight indeed.

"Unfortunately her snow white plumage makes her an easy target for predators. Let's hope this unseasonably warm weather turns to frost sometime soon, to give this gorgeous creature a longer lifespan"

We agree with you James - Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!
