Humber LEP Board gearing-up for action with appointment of David Ross as Vice Chair

Nov. 23, 2011 - PRLog -- While well known nationally for his success in helping to create the Carphone Warehouse, David has many local ties and is the grandson of the founder of the iconic Ross Frozen Foods company.

He remains Chairman of the family-founded Cosalt ship-supply group and recently established a community fund in memory of his late father, John Ross MBE. David's charitable foundation also supports the Havelock and Humberston Academies in North East Lincolnshire and aims to continue the expansion of its work in the educational field locally.

At a national level, David was also on the board that supervised the renewal of Wembley Stadium, and the London organising committee of the 2012 Olympic Games. He was a member of the Home Office Audit Committee and Lord Carter's Review of Legal Aid Procurement.

With Chair and Vice-Chair in place, the job of interviewing and recruiting board members now begins in earnest.

Commenting on his appointment, David said: “There is certainly a big job to do in promoting the Humber. Our job in the LEP is to help encourage potential investors into the region to take advantage of what we have to offer in terms of location, facilities, infrastructure and people.

“And we mustn’t forget the added advantage of Enterprise Zone status and the benefits this brings to new businesses establishing a base here.”
