“We went back to the roots of our celebration and had an outstanding event,” said America’s Hometown Thanksgiving Celebration Executive Director Olly deMacedo. “It all started with our increased sponsorships and visitor attendance.” According to deMacedo, more than 250,000 attended the three day celebration leading up to this week’s holiday celebration. Additionally, thousands visited the Harvest Festival and there were double the sponsors and participants in the waterfront activities. “We were really excited to see all of the people turn out to enjoy our America’s Hometown Thanksgiving Celebration,” The broken world record was a sight to see for those with really big appetites. Local restaurant T Bones created the world’s largest open face sandwich to beat the record for the Guinness Book of World Records with a pulled pork sandwich weighing in at 2539 pounds, and then shared it all with the crowd. “Plans are already under way for the 2012 America’s Hometown Thanksgiving Celebration,” The 2012 America’s Hometown Thanksgiving Celebration will take place the weekend before Thanksgiving at the nation’s birthplace of Thanksgiving – Plymouth, Mass.
