Follow on Google News | Prince Michael of Kent supports the prosecution of perfectly safe driversDrivers' group questions the involvement of Royalty in the promotion of the prosecution of perfectly safe drivers & awards to groups who promote flawed road safety profiteering at the expense of drivers.
'We have been looking at his charity Road Safe and their activities...', says Keith Peat a road safety expert and volunteer, '...and we are not so certain that it is based on realism or expertise and it is certainly supported at a very high cost to UK's drivers as we know that most road safety is just an excuse for massive profit'. The D.P.U. point out that two of Road Safe's Key Themes, 'safer vehicles & speed management' are subjective but very costly for drivers and the economy. Speed management automatically links His Royal Highness with the part of the Industry that prosecutes perfectly safe drivers in their thousands. 'Should Royalty be involving themselves with prosecutions at all; never mind against safe drivers?' they ask. Road Safe run the very pricey Prince's International Road Safety Awards annual junket of 400 'road safety professionals' which has just awarded RAC Foundation for it's report justifying speed cameras for the Industry but as D.P.U. point out, the bash is paid for by speed camera manufacturers. 'We have studied RACFoundation reports and their promotion of speed cameras is so dangerously flawed that, on its publication, we commented "When people like the RACF & their Professors meddle with road safety to suit their own agenda, it's people's lives at stake" so we question the Prince wishing to award them for it at all. 'We have contacted the Prince's office to offer him true altruistic road safety expertise and to tell him of our work but he doesn't seem interested in the non vested interests voluntary sector of this life and death issue at all; he clearly prefers to rub shoulders with road safety high rollers instead.' says Keith Peat DPU have set up a poll asking should Prince Michael support the prosecution of safe drivers at: DPU Polls http://www.youdrive.org.uk DPU comment on the RAC Foundation's report can be found at: http://www.youdrive.org.uk # # # The Drivers' Protest Union (D.P.U.) A road safety and driving group who's aims are to promote genuine and effective road safety, protect the driver from exploitation, unfair or unnecessary prosecution, unfair taxation and unnecessary speed restriction.
