Boys & Girls Clubs of Monterey County Launches Facebook Fundraising Campaign

Non-Profit Leverages Social Media to Build Awareness and Raise Matching Funds

Dec. 8, 2011 - PRLog -- The Boys & Girls Clubs of Monterey County (BGCMC) were recently awarded a “Match” opportunity from an angel investor for $50,000, which if completed by December 31, 2011, will result in $100,000 to the BGCMC. This opportunity came at a time when the Club had just finished a series of interviews with alumni, local partners and business supporters who gave testimony to the importance of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monterey County in our community.  In order to quickly promote the campaign, the Club launched its first Social Networking fundraiser on Facebook, utilizing the videos to quickly and inexpensively spread awareness about BGCMC and the Match fundraising opportunity.

The timing was perfect for connecting the voice of the community and alumni and the opportunity to raise $100,000, to the “online” community. “We are so fortunate to have the support of partners and businesses in the community as well as loyal Club alumni, all of whom are committed to ensuring that the next generation of youth in Monterey County have opportunities available to them to make the right choices for a successful and productive future,” said Donna Ferraro, CEO and President of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monterey County.

Donna claims, “The role of social networking in fundraising is becoming more and more important – our future investors are ‘online all the time’. This Match fundraiser is a great way to maximize contributions during these challenging times, and using Facebook to launch this campaign is the best way to make the most of our resources.”

To listen to the videos and/or to participate in the $50K Match fundraising campaign go the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monterey County’s Facebook Welcome page, or click on the “Participate in the 50K Match” on the home page icon at www.bgcmc.org.
