By: Robert Mendoza The timing was perfect for connecting the voice of the community and alumni and the opportunity to raise $100,000, to the “online” community. “We are so fortunate to have the support of partners and businesses in the community as well as loyal Club alumni, all of whom are committed to ensuring that the next generation of youth in Monterey County have opportunities available to them to make the right choices for a successful and productive future,” said Donna Ferraro, CEO and President of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monterey County. Donna claims, “The role of social networking in fundraising is becoming more and more important – our future investors are ‘online all the time’. With Clubhouses in Seaside and Salinas, BGCMC provides youth between the ages of 6-18 an afterschool safe haven where they are mentored to achieve academic success, acquire healthy lifestyles, and develop good character and citizenship. Over 95% of the total budget comes from generous individuals, corporations and foundations. The Clubs are open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. during summer and school breaks, and from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. when school is in session.
