PAL Half Marathon on Palmer Ranch raises $20,000 for Police Athletic League youth programs

Dec. 9, 2011 - PRLog -- The PAL Half Marathon on Palmer Ranch on November 27 was a huge success and raised approximately $20,000 to benefit the youth programs of the Police Athletic League of Sarasota County, Inc. Race founder and director Felicia Cox, agency manager of the Ted Todd Insurance Agency and board president of the Sarasota Athletic Association, reported that 580 runners participated in the events. The overall winners were Jeff East, 38, of Bonita Springs, FL and Heather Butcher, 39, of Sarasota, FL. Results are posted at http://sarasotaathleticassociation.com.  

The Police Athletic League of Sarasota County, Inc. is a nonprofit 501(C)(3) organization that is funded by donations, grants, and fund raising events throughout the year. It provides programs for over 1,200 area youth in which to safely participate, learn, and achieve, while developing positive relationships of trust and respect with law enforcement personnel. Programs such as Pony Pal teaches equestrian skills, while Camp X-RAYD (Examining Reality About Your Decisions) exposes at-risk youth to the consequences of drug use and crime to help them make law-abiding choices that lead to more productive lives.

The Sarasota Athletic Association thanks all its sponsors and volunteers of the event. As the Sheriff Sponsor, the Ted Todd Insurance Agency located at 5265 University Parkway, Suite 107 had six runners, including agency principal, Ted Todd, and generously donated the other four tickets to other runners.
