Dec. 12, 2011 - PRLog -- If you are a commercial CCTV system installer the odds are very good you will have to use plenum rated BNC connectors for your installations.  Plenum rated BNC connectors are specially made for use with plenum rated coaxial cables.  Since the cables have a special compound in their jackets the size of the cable is much different than the cable jackets on standard coax cables used in non-plenum commercial installations, and CCTV installations at the home.   At Cabling Plus we are the experts in wire and cable market, so we have all the plenum rated BNC connectors you need to support your installations.

Plenum rated coaxial cable is required in surveillance system installation where cable is installed in a plenum open-air circulation system.  Since the cable is installed in the same area where the air is circulated throughout a building, the plenum cable has a special compound that will ensure the cable burns slow, while stopping harmful gases from entering the air system.  These gases would cripple people as they try to leave the building in the case of a real fire.  Using plenum rated cables and BNC connectors are mandatory, so it is important to evaluate your local building codes and use the products that they specify in installations for a particular building.  Plenum rated RG59 coaxial cable is the most common video cable used in commercial surveillance applications.  This is the cable that delivers the video signal from the security cameras back to the security DVR. The connection is made to the security camera and security DVR via BNC connectors.

Plenum rated BNC connectors are sized to support the size of the cable jacket on the plenum BNC connector.  The jacket size is much different than the non-plenum counterpart.   So it is important to use plenum rated BNC connectors whenever you use plenum rated CCTV cables.  Using the right BN connector with your cable will also ensure your installation goes smooth.  Since BNC connectors are manufacturers specifically to fit their cables, using the wrong BNC connector could slow down your project and at the same time could cause your video signals to fail.   It is always recommended to evaluate the type of cable you are terminating, and then choose the right connector to fit it.  The cables specifications should always be clearly documented right on the cables jacket.  So it should be easy for your get the cable information prior to buying connectors.

At Cabling Plus we offer a huge selection of Plenum Rated BNC Connectors in both compression and crimp types.  So there is really no coaxial cable we cannot fit with a BNC connector.   We have plenum rated BNC connectors for standard Plenum RG6, Plenum RG59 and Plenum RG59 Mini Coaxial cables.  We also have a huge selection of crimp tools and cable strippers so you can prepare and terminate the connector properly.

If you need help in picking out the right BNC connector for your installation, call us today!  We have wire and cable experts on staff to help you throughout your installations.  We also provide FREE lifetime technical support so ensure your installation is a complete success!
