By: Shani Lynn Rogers A segment of the four-layer Royal wedding cake from the occasion has been carefully preserved until this day in a delicate square original vintage box which is still impressively intact. The surface of the container is inscribed with elegant cursive, ‘ Wedding Cake of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor.’ From the following decade, Vintage Seekers features a Personal Letter Signed by Wallis, Duchess of Windsor. The letter is headed with an official seal, dated 18th November 1940 and is addressed to American interior designer and author, Elsie De Wolf also known as Lady Mendl. Fittingly for the festive season, the letter is an appeal for advice regarding a Christmas present. The writing holds a certain charm considering the polite, high society language of the 1940s. The otherwise typed letter is hand signed, ‘All love, Wallis’ in bold black pen. Vintage Seekers also offers a 1951 Signed Flyleaf by Edward and Wallis Windsor, a considerably rare item from Edward’s memoirs ‘ A King’s Story”, first published in 1951. The publication details a significant occurrence in the history of the monarchy, as Edward himself reveals the details of his abdication from the throne, his marriage to Wallis Simpson and his defiance of the Prime Minister, Stanley Baldwin. Both the Duke and Duchess of Windsor gave their signature to the flyleaf, which is suitably worn after sixty years but still in valuable condition. These highly collectible items from one of 20th century’s most controversial couples, are presented by Vintage Seekers in curating a heritage lifestyle. # # # Vintage Seekers, the premium online platform curating a heritage lifestyle that brings together the best examples of design, fashion, motoring, watches, wine and collectibles.
