Pregnancy, Labor and Letting Your Baby Out

Dec. 18, 2011 - PRLog -- How do you improve your odds of having a healthy and safe birth? One place to start is reducing the number of routine interventions you are exposed to. Just Us Women Productions, LLC is currently registering participants for its winter series of Normal Birth Education classes. Each class will be facilitated by an independent childbirth educator trained to teach women about normal birth and their choices related to pregnancy, labor and birth. Each four week series, offered weekends and weeknights, will include a variety of topics including: optimal fetal positioning, coping and relaxation techniques, question and answer time, and small group activities that support normal birth and educate women on medical alternatives. Educational resources and handouts will provided and birth clips screened. What sets apart an independent childbirth class from subsidized hospital classes? An independent educator focuses on evidence based information without the pressure of complying with a particular hospitals policy's or procedures. As a result clients are freer to make informed decisions based on up-to-date research being presented in a small group setting. Independent educators are also able to use their additional training in subjects such as infant massage or newborn care. The best time to begin taking classes is 8 – 10 weeks before your due date. Registration is now open for February classes which are limited to six moms and their support person (optional).  Class dates and times are: Saturday’s, February 4, 7, 11, 18 from 2:00 – 4:30pm and Monday’s, February 6, 13, 20, and 27 from 6:00 – 8:30pm.
