Jan. 6, 2012 - PRLog -- 2012 marks the twelfth anniversary of the Arts Alive program in Encinitas. The event has grown from 25-30 banners in the early years to 101 in the present! Each banner has been painted by local artists and will be displayed on street lights along six miles of Coast Highway 101 throughout downtown Encinitas, Leucadia, Cardiff's Restaurant Row and the Seaside Market parking lot.

This year previous banner artist, Cheryl Ehlers decided to provide her students with an exceptional opportunity to learn the process of banner painting and to participate in such an exciting event. Students, ages 7 – 11, from the Boys and Girls Clubs of San Dieguito, Griset branch spent three weeks creating and painting their banner that is to be unveiled on February 4, 2012.  An event reception at the Cabo Grill, located at 1950 N. Hwy 101 in Cardiff by the Sea, California, will reveal "Atlantis" along with 100 artists banners.

Named by the students, Atlantis is a wonderful depiction of “way down below the ocean, an undersea adventure into a lifetime of excitement that lies beneath the sea for all to discover, in a dream of long ago", a collaborative description from the students that created it.  A video “Atlantis” will be released on February 4, 2012 , the day of the unveiling ceremony  and will be available for viewing at http://www.thestardustarts.com.

The Stardust Arts is sponsored in part by a grant from the City of Encinitas and the Mizel Family Foundation Community Program.  Stardust is a visual art program that develops creativity and imagination and was founded in 2009 by Artist, Cheryl Ehlers who has taught over 4100 students since that time in the school districts and city agencies her her surrounding local communities.

The Arts Alive banner program is directed and produced by artist, Danny Salzhandler, President of the 101 Artists Colony who states, "don’t miss this wonderful event and opportunity to view fantastic banners at the reception and later along Highway 101 from February to May 20, 2012."  Banners will be sold at a live auction and reception at Cardiff Towne Center in California
