Jan. 11, 2012 - PRLog -- Combustion Associates, Inc. is currently working with Worley Parsons on two projects in the Tengizchevroil Sulfur Expansion Project (SEP) in Kazakhstan.
The SEP is located in the Tengiz field, which was first discovered in 1979. The field has recoverable reserves estimated at between 6 and 9 billion barrels and was jointly developed in ā€™93 as a 40-year venture between Chevron Texaco, Kaz Munai Gas, U.S. Exxon Mobil and LUKArco (TengizChevrOil or TCO).
Among other places, sulfur is found in crude oil and natural gas. The crude oil and gas produced by TCO has a hydrogen sulfide content of about 14 percent. The Tengiz processing plant removes this hydrogen sulfide from the crude oil and associated gas, and then converts it to elemental sulfur.
To assist in this endeavor, CAI is manufacturing a Low Pressure Condensate Pump Collection System package, including design and engineering; skid base fabrication and assembly; condensate pump procurement and assembly; piping spool fabrication and assembly; system testing and quality assurance; and documentation.
CAI is also manufacturing a Steam Desuperheater and Letdown Package for the Low Pressure Condensate Pump Collection System for SEP.
The skid is a complete package and consists of a desuperheater, two pumps, structural skid base, vessels, piping, instrumentation and electrical wiring.
While superheated steam can be advantageous when used in power stations to drive turbines, in this case, the steam must be desuperheated, which results in an increased flow of steam at a lower temperature. The package is designed to reduce the temperature of steam in the pipe by injecting condensate into the steam flow.
The overall goal of the sulfur expansion project is to create and implement systems and facilities that will increase sulfur exportation. This commodity is used to make more than 30,000 products, including phosphate fertilizers, paper, rubber, dyes, textiles, cosmetics, plastics and paints.
About CAI In 2011, CAI was awarded the Presidential ā€œEā€ Award for Excellence in Exporting by the U.S. Department of Commerce, Washington, D.C. This is the highest honor a company receives from the U.S. Department of Commerce.
