Follow on Google News | Turntablism meets Beat Making (Hip Hop, Dubstep, and Rock) Dj ArtistryDJ, turntablist, producer, break dancer, performer and visual artist, Vargas has been and continues to evoke his artistic and prolific energies towards unearthing, absorbing and contributing to the culture of Hip Hop and its prominent elements.
By: Dj Artistry With his involvement in the b-boy community, Vargas was exposed to the other elements of hip hop. Dancing and b-boying to the stylings of the Invisible Scratch Picklez and DJ Qbert convinced Vargas that his musical inclination did not stop at dancing but expanded into an appreciation and knack for the manipulation of sound and music. And so Vargas passage into turntablism was born. Vargas began honing his skills on two Gemini XL200 DJ turntables and a PMX 500 mixer given to him by his father for Christmas in 1995. A year later, at the age of 14, Vargas stepped up his turntablist game and upgraded to his first set of Technic 1200s and a Vestax 05 mixer. Taking up b-boying and turntabilism gave Vargas the chance to participate and manipulate, but his determination did not stop there. He soon set his sights on the opportunity to create. Inspired by Dj Shadow, in 1998 Vargas creative expression materialized into the production and engineering of instrumental beats and tracks. By 2005, Vargas formerly joined the recording business ranks, with the help of his recording engineer mentor, Damon Cisneros (www.bodigm.com) It can be said that Vargas has achieved enough, having channeled his unrelenting drive to explore and master into b-boying, turntablism, and music production and engineering. However, that same unrelenting drive persists in compelling Vargas towards continued discovery and growth in the science of music, business and artistry. www.djartistry.com End
