By: Anthony Cornealius The Hero Behind the Hero Scholarship, which honors the spouses and children of active-duty public safety personnel (firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMTs and dispatchers) Rolan is the wife of Wesley Rolan, who has been a paramedic for the past 16 years. Although he currently works as a safety coordinator, he remains actively involved as a volunteer paramedic for Angleton Area Emergency Medical Corps. Rolan plans to use the scholarship to seek an online associate degree in business with CSU. A Texas Eye Institute employee, she said the degree is “the most logical option right now. With my work history, I figured I couldn't go wrong learning the ins and outs of business management.” She added that the Hero Behind the Hero scholarship “means no longer having to feel like I didn't take the opportunity to change our lives for the better.” CSU offers online associate, bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degree programs in various fields including criminal justice, fire science, occupational safety and health, and business administration.
