Trust Your Inner Beat- DJ Rob Swift to Teach at the Eugene Lang College: New School for Liberal Arts

Jan. 23, 2012 - PRLog -- NEW YORK – DJ Rob Swift has developed a comprehensive course in the art of DJing for music students at the Eugene Lang College: The New School for Liberal Arts. The 14-week course starts January 24, 2012. DJ Rob Swift’s course at gives students a deeper look into the art of DJing. Focusing on three fundamental DJ techniques – mixing, scratching, and beat juggling – students will learn how to hear music, deconstruct it and put it back together in a way that reflects their personalities.

“No one out there sounds like me,” says DJ Rob Swift. “Through my course, I want my students to stand out against their competitors.”

The course will emphasize the importance of the equipment, and the students will learn how turntables work, the purpose of a stereo mixer, and how to connect DJ equipment. As each technique is examined, the students will learn the history and cultural context of the different styles of DJing.

DJ Rob Swift’s course closed 5 days after registration opened and was named as “the Hot List of the semester” by The New School located at 65 West 11th Street, New York, NY 10011. Class days are Tuesday and Thursday from 6p to 7:30p at Scratch DJ Academy 32 Cooper Square, New York, NY (2nd Floor).
