Patton Enters High-Capacity, Carrier-Grade VoIP Gateway Market with SmartNode 10200 Series

Patton Announces the 2048-channel SmartNode™ 10200 TDM+VoIP Media Gateway Series for carriers and large enterprises.

Feb. 1, 2012 - PRLog -- SmartNode™ VoIP. . .  more than just talk!

GAITHERSBURG, MD: Today at ITEXPO Patton is now taking orders for the new high-capacity SmartNode™ 10200 VoIP media gateway series for carriers and large enterprises, announced today. The newest member of the SmartNode family (http://www.patton.com/smartnode) provides up to 2048 voice or fax calls, 16 to 64 T1/E1s, 1 to 3 DS3s or a STM-1/OC3 trunk with SS7 signaling, and extensive inter-protocol transcoding.*

By adding a high-capacity solution for 512-to-2048 SIP/H.248 VoIP or T.30/T.38 fax calls in a 2U form factor, today's announcement expands Patton's SmartNode portfolio far beyond its former 2-to-120-call range.

Deployed as customer-premise equipment (CPE), carriers can use the SN10200 to deliver high-density IP telephony and classic PSTN voice and fax services concurrently. Deployed as core, edge or peer-interchange equipment, the SN20100 enables carrier to migrate their legacy service networks toward IP-centric architectures.

For large enterprises and call centers, the SN10200 interconnects traditional and iPBX phone systems, to deliver high-volume SIP trunking with sustained performance levels up to 90 completed calls per second (CCPS). By providing transcoding among all voice codecs and signaling protocols, the SN10200 ensures seamless interoperation with all major softswitches.

“The global network is still converging," said Burton A. Patton, Executive Vice President. “Although legacy equipment is aging, it provides reliable service. Traditional PSTNs still generate revenues and profits. Carriers need classic TDM and advanced IP networks to interconnect and interoperate, and our SmartNode 10200 is the industry’s most reliable—and cost-effective—solution.”

The SN10200 delivers superior reliability and system uptime with SS7 link redundancy, dual power-supply support, and field-upgradeable components. Boasting power consumption averaging two-thirds lower than comparable alternatives, the SN10200 lowers operator energy costs.

Burt Patton addressed the future of VoIP and unified communications in his recent   InfoTECH Spotlight interview (http://it.tmcnet.com/magazine/2011/April/).

Patton's SmartNode recently won the INTERNET TELEPHONY 2011 Product of the Year award, maintaining a seven-year winning streak for the VoIP-equipment brand.

In related news, Patton’s CopperLink™ 2174 ultra-high-speed Ethernet Extender is now shipping worldwide, delivering IP/Ethernet connectivity over coax, dry copper, and Cat5 cabling.

*The SmartNode™ 10200 series ships with G.711, G723.1, G.726, and G.729ab. Optional mobile and IP vocoders include AMR, AMR-WB (G.722.2), GSM-FR/GSM-EFR, EVRC/QCELP, G.728, G.729eg, and iLBC.
