Takeru Kobayashi Helps Raise $3,870 to Fund 7740 Meals in Delaware Valley following Wing Bowl 20

Feb. 4, 2012 - PRLog -- Following his record setting performance at Philadelphias Annual chicken wing eating contest in which he consumed 337 wings in 30 minutes, world champion professional eater Takeru Kobayasi was joined by Cherry Hill Imports’ Jon Alessandri to present a check for $3,370.00 to Philabundance’s Marlo DelSordo at Tony Luke’s Cheeseteaks on Oregon Avenue.  

Philadelphia restaurateur and entertainer Tony Luke, Jr. added an additional $500.00 contribution to the regional food bank, which serves nine counties in the Delaware Valley.

Through Philabundance, each dollar funds two meals.

“I am fortunate to be able to eat for a living, and it’s a blessing I don’t take for granted,” said Kobayashi.  “I have made it a personal mission to use my unique platform to help advance hunger-related causes in the various communities in which I compete.”

He added, “I couldn’t have found better partners to assist with this issue than the two I found.  Cherry Hill Imports’ Andrew and Amanda Hartung have a remarkable record of giving back to the community, and there are few individuals as synonymous with food and Philadelphia itself than Tony Luke, Jr.”
