Feb. 6, 2012 - PRLog -- The hotel at MGM Grand Detroit and celebrity Chef Michael Mina’s award-winning restaurant, SALTWATER, have earned AAA’s 2012 Four Diamond rating. Only six Michigan restaurants and 14 hotels received such recognition this year.

Part of the auto association’s annual hospitality industry ratings, Four Diamond hotels are upscale in all areas of service, décor and amenities. Meanwhile, Four Diamond restaurants cater to individuals in search of unique fine-dining experiences, demonstrating a high degree of creative and complex menus, accomplished staff, and refined ambiance.

Detroit’s first and only downtown hotel, gaming and entertainment destination built from the ground up, MGM Grand Detroit’s hotel features 400 chic and stylish guest rooms, including nine rooftop VIP suites and 56 opulent corner suites. The hotel, which received the award in 2009, 2010 and 2011, provides a separate entrance and private living room for hotel guests only, along with 30,000 square feet of functional event space, large meeting rooms, two executive boardrooms, state-of-the-art technology and convenient freight access. The property can accommodate up to 1,200 people for an event.

SALTWATER, a restaurant by Chef Michael Mina and one of the property’s three signature restaurants, also has received the AAA Four Diamond rating every year since 2009. The restaurant’s menu features seafood favorites done to perfection.  Diners visit often to enjoy the sleek décor and menu items including Chef Mina’s Lobster Pot Pie, Beer Battered Fish & Chips, and ice-cold shellfish.

“We are honored to once again be bestowed with two Four Diamond awards from AAA,” said MGM Grand Detroit General Manager Steve Zanella.  “Our team members work tirelessly to ensure that every guest receives the highest caliber service and most memorable experience.  This award really goes to them.”

MGM Grand Detroit also features a 100,000-square-foot casino, two additional signature restaurants, two casual dining options, and five unique lounges.
