Quality Life Center Celebrates Black History Month with a Special Program

Feb. 15, 2012 - PRLog -- Fort Myers, FL – February 15, 2012 - Quality Life Center will celebrate Black History Month with a live museum, exhibition of inventions, poetry readings and music performed by children in the After-school Program.  The event recognizes the significant contributions by African-American men and women, not only as pioneers for change, but also as a source of societal enrichment through their contributions to business, education, arts, technology and in many walks of life.  This free program will take place on February 24, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. at Dunbar Community School in Fort Myers.

“Our country’s innovative spirit and wealth of ideas are built from a foundation of diversity and from the contributions of all of its citizens” said Chief Operating Officer Dr. Charles Cunningham, noting that the event will allow the students to connect Black history with both the academics and arts lessons the children learn at The “Q”.  "I think it's cool that we got the opportunity to really go back into history and learn about real pioneers that we can now relate to" said student Amarion Johnson.
