SPARC’s announcement came at the conclusion of a “challenge phase” that required charities to reach specific dollar and donor goals. SPARC, which provides free day support for adults with disabilities, created an online giving campaign that raised more than $5,000 from more than 46 donors in only 28 days. “SPARC is honored to win a spot on the GlobalGiving platform,” said Executive Director Donna Goldbranson. “We share this coveted space with only 22 other human services groups throughout the entire United States and only four Virginia non-profits,” Goldbranson founded SPARC in 2006 to support adults with disabilities because of a lack of services available from state agencies. “After high school, appropriate programs in Virginia are scarce and the state has waiting lists with thousands of names,” she said. “Joining GlobalGiving’ SPARC opened its first facility in Reston, Virginia in 2006. A second location opened in McLean, Virginia in October, 2011.
