Oberon Inc Model 1066 Provides Physical Security for Aruba Networks Access Points

March 9, 2012 - PRLog -- The Oberon Model 1066-00 wireless access point ceiling mount is designed to provide a secure, convenient, and aesthetic mounting solution for the Aruba Networks AP -135 series 802.11n access point. This aesthetic, white powder coated steel 2’ x 2’ ceiling tile-like mount locks the access point in place with a patent-pending locking mechanism. Access point moves, adds, and changes can be performed without removing the mount from the ceiling. No ceiling tile cuts are required for installation.

The Aruba Networks AP-135 access point features two internal 3x3 MIMO dual-band 2.4-GHz/5-GHz radios and is designed for extremely high-density Wi-Fi environments.  The Oberon enclosure provides an aesthetic way to mount the access point horizontally for ideal radiation patterns.  The back-box is attached to the building structure for enhanced physical security.  The locking door panel provides convenient access for easy moves, adds, and changes without removing the back box - a feature particularly beneficial in busy, high-traffic areas.

The security of a wireless enclosure simplifies compliance with industry guidelines and regulations.  Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS) requirement 9.1.3 states that the operator must "restrict physical access to wireless access points, gateways, and handheld devices” and “verify that physical access to wireless access points, gateways, handheld devices, networking/communications hardware, and telecommunication lines is appropriately restricted.“ Additionally, Government/DoD– Directive 8100.2 mandates FIPS 140-2 compliance wherein FIPS 140-2 paragraph 4.5 requires “physical security mechanisms” to be applied.

Designed to meet NEC300-22 and 300-23 for plenum installations, the 2' x 2' x 2.25" deep mount is OSHPD-approved (OPA #1638).  The 6 lb. enclosure is shipped with hanger wires, 1.75" trade size conduit connector for data/power cable, a security hasp to secure mount to the ceiling system or other permanent fixture, and mounting instructions.
