18th Annual Mother’s Day Weekend Art and Garden Tour

March 9, 2012 - PRLog -- This year’s self-guided tour of nine unique gardens meanders through the nostalgic beach town of Leucadia, then east through New Encinitas and onto the winding rural roads past the estates of historic Olivenhain. The gardens are easily accessible in a day but many visitors choose to take both days to complete the tour.

Each elegant private garden will feature several San Dieguito Art Guild members who will have their artwork on display and for sale. All art pieces, priced directly from the artists, are original (nothing mass produced or imported) and include paintings, original drawings, fine art photography, sculptures, unique glass, metal and gourd art, and one-of-a-kind pieces of jewelry.

“This is an opportunity to give the gift of time to the “moms” in our lives,” said Grace Swanson, long-time member of the Guild and an exhibiting artist.  “It’s the perfect way to spend a day.  And because each home will serve an ample assortment of refreshments, folks can skip the crowded restaurants this year.”

“The Art and Garden Tour is an annual fundraiser that helps support the Guild’s operating expenses as well as art programs that benefit the community, such as the “Try It You’ll Like It” workshops,” says San Dieguito Art Guild President, Cheryl Ehlers. “We’re also excited to use a portion of the event’s proceeds to provide a cash grant to an underserved High School’s art department in our community.

Tickets are available on April 1, 2012 and are $20 per person. Purchase either online at http://www.offtrackgallery.com or in person at the Off Track Gallery, 937 South Coast Highway 101, Suite C103, in the Lumberyard Shopping Center behind St. Tropez Bakery) in Encinitas, CA.  Tickets may also be purchased at any of the featured homes during the event and covers admission for both Saturday and Sunday and include a souvenir booklet and map with driving directions to each location.  Ticket holders can feel free to re-visit a favorite home or split their visits over the weekend.
