Sts. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church Will Host Lenten Vespers

March 12, 2012 - PRLog -- On Sunday, March 18, 2012 Saints Peter and Paul Orthodox Church in Buffalo will host Lenten Vespers. The Lenten Vespers will begin at 5:00 PM after which every one is welcomed to the parish hall refreshments featuring Lenten snacks and deserts, during this time there also will be a Lenten presentation.

For the Orthodox Christians of Buffalo and surrounding area Lenten Vespers have become a yearly tradition. Clergy representing very Orthodox Christian church gather to celebrate Lenten Vespers while the Pan-Orthodox Choir sings the responses during this beautiful service.

"We are extremely honored that our parish was chosen to host the Lenten Vespers on this particular Sunday"- said Father Volodymyr Zablotskyy, the acting rector of the parish. "Sunday of the Cross is right in the middle of Lent and by this time we need to be "refreshed" in our fasting and prayers, and Lenten Vespers at our parish is exactly what we need." - continued Fr. Zablotskyy.

Each year after the Lenten Vespers a presentation is made on the topic chosen by the members of Niagara Council of Orthodox Churches. This year's topic is "Modern Saints".

Saints Peter and Paul Orthodox Church is one of the oldest Orthodox parish in the Niagara Frontier in the Diocese of New York and New Jersey of Orthodox Church in America. It was founded 1894 by the immigrants from Eastern Europe.
