Zeus Global Examines Worldwide Broadband Growth

March 21, 2012 - PRLog -- The surge in uptake of broadband internet in 2011 was largely due to huge advancements in broadband in Russia with Eastern Europe showing strong figures as a whole. There was an increase of 65, 493, 596 lines in 2011 taking the total worldwide figure to 597, 322, 636. The figures have been prepared for the Broadband Forum by broadband industry analysts Point Topic.

Robin Mersh, CEO of the Broadband Forum said “This is an exciting return to higher growth figures and points to a strengthening in the broadband market…we are seeing broadband move into the daily lives of more and more people the world over." Asia is by far the biggest broadband subscriber region in the world with 254, 721, 342 lines overall at the end of 2011.  The UK is the 7th largest broadband user in the world with 5.75% growth throughout the year and some 1, 128, 900 new lines added. It sits behind China, USA, Japan, Germany, France and Russia.
