Follow on Google News | Actor Michael Beasley and STARZ invites you to the Atlanta screening of "Magic City"ATLANTA, GA - The Atlanta Red Carpet Screening for STARZ Magic City, starring Atlanta's own Actor Michael Beasley, will be held at Aurum Lounge on April 2, 2012. The Red Carpet begins at 7pm and screening begins at 8pm.
Magic City premieres on STARZ Channel, Friday, April 6, 2012 at 10:00 pm EST. Magic City has already been picked up for a 2nd season. Michael Beasley's role is "Grady James." Grady is a former Heavy Weight Champion boxer who now has a shoe shine business at the Miramar Playa Hotel. Mr. James is the understated right-hand man of Ike Evans (Actor Jeffrey Deans Morgan). Grady James is very much in touch with all that goes on at the hotel and has known Ike well before he became the "King" of the Beach. About Michael Beasley MICHAEL BEASLEY IS A RISING STAR! Michael is one of Hollywood's "Hardest Working Actors." Currently Michael has a recurring role in STARZ's new TV series called "Magic City" as "Grady James." He is also currently co-starring in a remake of the movie "Steel Magnolias" also starring Queen Latifah, Alfre Woodard, Phylicia Rashad, Jill Scott, Adepero Oduye and Rashad’s daughter, Condola Rashad. "Steel Magnolias" will premiere on Lifetime Channel. Michael is one of the stars, along with Mark Wahlberg, in the movie "Contraband" In 2010-2011, Michael had a supporting role as "Luther" in the Lifetime Movie Network original movie, "The Wronged Man," starring Julia Ormond. He can also be seen guest-starring in Tyler Perry's hit TV show, "Meet the Browns" as the "Bailiff." He also had leading and supporting roles in several other feature and short films which hit the film festival circuit in 2011-2012. They include "I Love You Phillip Morris" starring Jim Carrey and Ewen McGregor, "Survivor Type," "Of Course," and "Smoked." Michael has one of the lead roles on the web series called, "The A," in which he is "Otis." Michael had supporting roles and guest-starring appearances in several feature films and television shows in 2009. Some of the films were, the award-winning feature film, “Mississippi Damned” starring D.B. Woodside, "American Violet" starring Charles Dutton and Alfre Woodard, and "Road Trip 2 : Beer Pong." Michael had recurring appearances as "Mike Wilson", in the CW's hit TV show "One Tree Hill." He also guest-starred in Lifetime's hit TV shows "Army Wives" as "Sgt. Vance" and "Drop Dead Diva" as the "Jury Foreman." Denzel Washington recognized Michael’s star qualities while casting him in the movie, “The Great Debaters,” starring Denzel Washington and Forest Whitaker. In an interview with TV One’s Cathy Hughes, Denzel is quoted as saying, “I went through hundreds and hundreds of auditions all over the nation and each person won their part. Everyone had to go thru me, because my name was on it.” Born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska, Michael caught the acting bug several years ago, when his father, John Beasley, came to Atlanta to perform in Kenny Leon’s production of “Jitney", at The Alliance Theater. Michael played professional basketball, mainly overseas (Puerto Rico, Argentina, Dominic Republic, Chile, and Mexico). He knew he couldn't play basketball forever and decided to reinvent himself as an actor. Michael decided to pursue his acting career full time in 2005. Michael studied with his father John and brother Tyrone Beasley at the family’s theater in Omaha, The John Beasley Theater and Workshop. He performed in several theater productions including, “Two Trains Running,” “Jitney,” and “Death of a Salesman.” In Atlanta, he honed his skills at the Renaissance Project in Decatur, Georgia, in the productions, “Miss Evers’ Boys,” “Jitney,” and “To Kill a Mockingbird.” In 2007, Michael had a supporting role in “American Violet,” as "Tony Flair," starring Charles Dutton and Xzibit. He also has a supporting role in the horror film “April Fool’s Day” as the "Kitchen Staffer." Michael had a guest-star appearance in an episode of “Kville” as "Grayson Mitchell," starring Anthony Anderson. He also played the role of a taxi cab driver in “ABC Primetime’s” With such a hectic schedule, Michael still finds time to run his companies. He is the founder of Isis Ra Films (pronounced "Eye-sis Ray) a film production company, No More Tears, LLC., a graphic design and marketing company, and Xtremely Well a clothing apparel line. . The rest of the Beasley clan is getting into the act too. Michael’s brother, Tyrone Beasley, is both acting and directing. While Michael’s wife, Deena Beasley, filmed “Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans,” as "Maimouna," starring Nicholas Cage, Xzibit, Val Kilmer, and Eva Mendes. Michael’s two beautiful children, Malik (son) and Micah (daughter) are both aspiring actors and have been seen in several commercials and on the Golf Channel.
