Flash Showcase Local Juniors To Celebrate 2012 Season Kick-Off

April 5, 2012 - PRLog -- The San Diego Flash Soccer Club is embracing Youth Soccer Clubs across the County with the announcement of The 1st Annual Flash Junior March at their upcoming home game against local team SD Boca on Saturday April 14 – 5pm Kick-Off (similar to when Countries march across the Stadium during the Opening of the Olympic Games). This showcase of Americas largest youth market is just one of the ongoing grassroots projects of the rapidly growing San Diego Flash Youth Soccer Club Network.

In what will be a historic step forward in fostering a real soccer ‘community’ in San Diego, every youth soccer club is encouraged to attend the march, gain extra exposure for their teams and have their players share the field with the 2011 NPSL Southwest Division Champion San Diego Flash. The youth players and their parents are invited to attend for free.

Flash Soccer CEO Clent Alexander said "This event is about celebrating local soccer and giving young players the opportunity to interact with those that play at the highest levels of the sport here in San Diego. Sometimes there is a disconnect from the ranks of junior to senior soccer and anything we can do to bridge that gap is a step in the right direction for the sport.

“Small gestures such as this will provide stronger links and pathways for youth players to maintain their passion for playing the sport of soccer for the future. You never know, the next Landon Donovan, Clint Dempsey, Ronaldo or Messi might be playing right here in San Diego!” Alexander said.

The Mission of the San Diego Flash Soccer Organization is to be an inspiration to Youth Soccer Players in San Diego. Head Coach is Warren Barton, former English National Team and Newcastle United star. Player Talent Coordinator is Eric Wynalda, former US Men's National Team, Major League Soccer star and member of the U.S. Soccer Hall of Fame. Their goals are to formed the team from talented, local players and provide them the opportunity to play professionally in their hometown of San Diego in a fun, family-friendly atmosphere. It is also important to give youth players the opportunity to see top-flight soccer in person; to help motivate them to keep their passion for playing soccer.
