New Cocktail at The Goring Hotel to Celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee

(London, March 2012) To celebrate The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, The Goring hotel has designed a glittering cocktail.  “The 1952” is based on a royal favourite; it is a gin martini with 2½ measures of Hendricks Gin mixed with a dash of Noilly Prat, shaken over ice with real silver leaf.

This sparkling delight is served in a magical diamond-like Swarovski crystalline cocktail glass.  The exquisite stem is filled with clear crystal chatons that give it a sparkling effect and the base is a large faceted clear crystal.

Priced at £120.00 each, this is not an everyday tipple but perfect to celebrate such a wonderful occasion.   And when the drink is finished – guests will be given the glass to keep, to toast
Her Majesty at home.

The Goring Bar and Lounge is a wonderfully opulent and palatial setting in which to toast  Her Majesty.  Inspired by  the style of Empress Josephine at her Chateau de Malmaison, there are rich, hand-woven carpets, silk wall hanging and domed ceilings,  with original cornicing.   Over the fireplace in The Lounge there is a portrait of Horatio Nelson.  The windows have fully dressed deep red silk curtains and swagging.    The theme of crimson and gold is carried through to The Bar with hand sprayed red lacquer walls with a handmade carpet in a daring tiger print.  In a surrealist touch, antique frames hang within larger frames along the walls, four of them with a silhouette of each of the four Gorings who have owned and run the hotel since it opened in 1910. In summer drinks can be taken on the Veranda or at tables in The Goring’s large private garden.  Light meals are served throughout the day in the Lounge – soups, sandwiches, salads, caviar, hot dishes and delicious things to share.  From 7.00am to 11pm.  Bar Manager: Brian Kinsella
