April 23, 2012 - PRLog -- Richmond, VA (April 23, 2012) – This weekend Saxon Shoes will support the ASK Fun Walk & 5k at Short Pump Town Center as they come together to celebrate the strength and courage of our local children who are battling cancer.  Every dollar raised will provide them and their families with assistance, support and kindness through the ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation. Registration and details available at http://www.askwalk.org/.

The event starts with a 5k walk/run around Short Pump Town Center and ends with a morning-long celebration in the mall's main plaza.  Saxon Shoes will be on site with some fun activities to engage the children. Amanda Weiner, special projects coordinator for Saxon Shoes says, “We really appreciate the opportunity to be a part of this event each year. When I watch the children take their victory lap during the Fun Walk it brings tears to my eyes every time. These families are truly amazing.”

Saxon Shoes has been in business since 1953. Jack and Gloria Weiner opened their tiny shoe shop in Richmond, Va. with nothing more than a few dollars and a dream. Today, Saxon Shoes is owned by that very same family and has grown to become one of the largest, independent shoe stores in America.  Customer satisfaction has always been a priority at Saxon. And while their staff is well-trained to help customers find the best shoes, they desire to reach beyond the sales and out into the community searching for ways to meet the needs of people.
