By: We Are PR This story of PO Box 1142 is just as relevant today as it was when it occurred and it is one that truly touches all the human emotions of war and peace. Many of the interrogators, who used intelligence and cunning rather than torture and humiliation, were Jewish and their families had escaped persecution of the Nazis. They were chosen for PO Box 1142 both for their loyalty in interfacing with German prisoners but also for their knowledge of language, geography and science. In all, they provided questioning and surveillance of more than 4,000 prisoners. “I want to write a great book and create a great web site on this amazing story. I have a very personal reason. The Chief Intelligence Officer for PO Box 1142 was the greatest teacher I ever met, Major Arnold Kohn. Mr. Kohn enabled me to learn more in my final year of high school than all my other academic years combined. He took me under the wing of his Individualized Study Program at Pacific Grove High School in California and let me take my entire school day in his classroom. He found the key to making me succeed in school and through standardized testing achieve my only straight A report cards,” said Alex Kanakaris. “I dedicate the PO Box 1142 project, consisting of an eBook, paperback book, web site and movie treatment, to the late Major Arnold Kohn. I always knew he was a hero. Because of Major Kohn's modesty and the classified nature of his work, I had no idea what a universal hero he was or the impact of his patriotism. The PO Box 1142 book and web site project project will attempt to do justice to Mr. Kohn and the other great Americans who he served with in World War II at PO Box 1142.,” Mr. Kanakaris added.
