May 7, 2012 - PRLog -- MIAMI, FL -- The Council on Foundations elected Javier Alberto Soto, The Miami Foundation’s President and CEO, to its board of directors on April 30, during the 2012 Annual Conference in Los Angeles.

“We welcome Javier to the Council’s board and look forward to working with him in the years ahead. The leadership he’s shown at The Miami Foundation has been transformative and we are confident that he brings those same skills to us and the philanthropic sector,” said Interim President and CEO Jeff Clarke.

“I am proud to be elected to the Council on Foundations board. The leadership, resources and transparency the Council provides to over 1,700 community, corporate, family and private foundations across the country are vital in maintaining a sound philanthropic sector,” said Soto.

Soto, who previously served on the Council’s public policy committee, will serve a three-year term and chair the public policy committee. The board shapes and advances the Council’s strategic direction and its role in the philanthropic sector. As a board member he will work to set organizational priorities, identify emerging issues and trends and seek to fulfill the Council’s mission.

Soto joins the board with two other new members, Eugene W. Cochrane Jr., President of The Duke Endowment and Linda P. Evans, President and CEO of The Meadows Foundation.
