Follow on Google News | Competitive Cyclist Racing Team takes 2nd in the Team GC at the SRAM Tour of the GilaSolid performances landed Chad Beyer (USA) and Francisco Mancebo (SPN) in second and fourth places respectively in the individual General Classification (GC) standings, while the Team finished second overall in the Team GC.
By: Competitive Cyclist Racing Team After a great showing for the Team at the Joe Martin Stage Race two weeks ago, Mancebo and Beyer demonstrated their consistency at the SRAM Tour of the Gila by placing within the Top-10 in each of the five stages other than the Stage 3 Time Trial where Beyer placed 52nd. However, Beyer did earn a podium spot in the three longest stages, including Stage 1’s notorious Mogollon climb and Stage 5’s 103.5-mile Gila Monster course. “The effort from Chad was incredible and I did my best from the follow car to ‘honk’ him into the red leader’s jersey,” said directeur sportif Gord Fraser. “It was an amazing day (Stage 5) for Competitive Cyclist. We showed once again that we have perhaps the best stage race team in the U.S.” After this past weekend’s strong and successful showings, the Competitive Cyclist Racing Team extends its number one ranking in the 2012 National Race Calendar (NRC) Team Standings ahead of the Bissell Pro Cycling and the Kenda/5 Hour Energy p/b Geargrinder teams. Team captain Mancebo keeps the pressure on the rest of the competitors with a fourth place finish at the SRAM Tour of the Gila and maintains his status as NRC points leader. Beyer moves to third in the NRC individual standings. Other members of the Team held their own during the last few stops of the USA CRITS Speed Week in South Carolina and Georgia. The Team finished the week strong with David Williams’ (USA) win at the Electric City Circuit in Anderson, S.C. on May 5. Cole House took home the Most Aggressive Overall Rider honors for the series. With a little break in the Competitive Cyclist Racing Team’s schedule, the Team is preparing for the USPRO Championships in Greeneville, S.C. May 26-28.
