Millions of Moms will gather at malls, restaurants, homes and online to celebrate National Mom's Nite Out.
By: BSM Media "As a working Mom I recognize the need for mothers to take time to recharge, and one of the best ways to do that is in the company of other Moms. They're our friends and advisors, they give us perspective, a wealth of expertise, and a reason to laugh," said Assemblywoman Naomi Rivera. "The Resolution I've introduced into the New York State Assembly will ensure that our great state officially recognizes National Mom’s Nite Out on the Thursday before Mother's Day; May 10th, this year. I'm delighted that New York is the first state to give Moms this new 'holiday', and I encourage all Moms to mark the occasion by taking a well-deserved break." National Mom’s Nite Out creator Maria Bailey joined Rivera on the floor of the state assembly during the legislative proceedings. “It was a privilege to join Assemblywoman Rivera when the National Mom’s Nite Out resolution was reviewed and voted on yesterday,” said Bailey, adding, “this is a special honor and much-deserved recognition for Moms everywhere and gives us even more reason to take the night off.” The 4th Annual National Mom’s Nite Out (http://www.momsniteout.com) events, set for Thursday, May 10th, span the country and online. On the Thursday prior to Mother's Day, Moms will celebrate with each other before the official Mother’s Day holiday, when most Moms admit that they will spend most of their day taking care of their family. Based on a recent survey* of over 1,300 moms, the need for a pre-Mother’s Day celebration is clear. Over 85% of mothers report that they will devote multiple hours of their special day to the other moms in their lives such as mothers-in-law, grandmothers and aunts. More than 75% of moms celebrate with two or more other mothers in their family, with almost every mother (92%) devoting a few hours to an entire day making Mother’s Day celebrations special for the other Moms in the family. “What began as a day to celebrate Moms, in reality has become a day with lots of chores attached to it”, states Bailey.
