NewSat to Showcase Satellite Services at APPEA 2012

May 10, 2012 - PRLog -- NewSat will be joining local and international oil companies and technology providers at the APPEA 2012 Conference and Exhibition (May 13-16, Adelaide). The Australian Petroleum Production & Exploration Association Ltd (APPEA)  has been sponsoring the prestigious event for more than 50 years to promote business, networking and learning opportunities in the industry.  James Hamilton and Ron Miller will be representing NewSat. The Australian satellite communications operator has over 2,500 industry-targeted services in its record, harnessing SATCOM capacity from 13 satellites with solutions like iDirect hardware, LinkStar platforms, teleport support and co-location.

APPEA has nearly  80 company members actively engaged in oil and gas exploration activities in Australia. These companies account for almost all of the nation's petroleum output.  This year's sponsors include Clough, Woodside, Total, Exxon Mobil, Conoco Phillips, Santos, Sasol, Beach Energy, Schlumberger , the Australian Department of Resources , Energy and Tourism, among others.

Christophe de Margerie, Chairman and CEO of energy giant Total, and Hon. Jay Weatherill, the new South Australian Premier,will grace the opening day of the Adelaide Conference, along with the Federal Resources & Energy Minister, the Hon Martin Ferguson. Leading the foreign delegates will be His Excellency Ali bin Ibrahim Al-Naimi, the  Minister of Petroleum & Mineral Resources of Saudi Arabia, along with Maria van der Hoeven, former Executive Director of the IEA in 2011 . Main highlights on the second day of the conference will be ExxonMobil Gas & Power Marketing Vice President (Asia-Pacific) Emma Cochrane. The third morning plenary session will feature Andrew Logue, Executive Vice-President Siemens Limited.

Other keynote speakers include local industry leaders, namely Santos Limited Managing Director & APPEA Chairman  David Knox, Chevron Greater Gorgon Area GM Colin Beckett, Woodside Energy Managing Director Peter Coleman, BHP Billiton Petroleum Chief Executive Michael Yeager, Origin Energy Limited CEO Paul Zealand, National Farmers' Federation VP Duncan Fraser, Deloitte Access Economics Partner Ian Harper, GISERA Director Peter Stone and Santos VP  Peter Cleary.

NewSat, a locally owned satellite communications and teleport service provider, was one of the three nominees to the 2012 Independent Teleport of the Year of WTA. It recently elected Lockheed Martin to construct its first-ever commercial satellite in the flagship Jabiru fleet.
