May 14, 2012 - PRLog -- Fl,USA...................... If you are pre-hypertensive and are on meds, there is an easy way to avoid high blood pressure side effects of the drugs.

First, let's take a look at what the side effects can be for each class of blood pressure medicine.

Diuretics: This use to be the most frequently prescribed drug and is without question the least expensive. That trend has changed in recent years and the more aggressive classes of drugs are being prescribed in place of the diuretic. Really the biggest side effect of this class is simply frequent urination.  The idea is to lower the blood volume and flushing out sodium making it easier for the heart to pump. Unfortunately salt is not the only thing being flushed. Important minerals and vitamins are flushed as well.
Beta Blockers: These slow down the heart muscle so it will not pump as strongly thereby lessening the pressure on the walls of the blood vessels. Mild side effects can include fatigue, poor circulation resulting in cold hands and feet, a dryness of mouth, eyes and skin and dizziness.  This drug is designed to decrease the strength that the heart exerts in the pumping. Guess what else this reduced pumping strength can evolve into. Congestive heart failure and heart attack are possible side effects.
ACE Inhibitors: This drug  prevents the natural molecule angiotensin which increases blood pressure in times of danger (fight or flight mode). By stopping this production, ACE inhibitors insure that the body doesn't naturally try to increase pressure. Side effects include loss of sense of taste, skin rashes, coughing and possible kidney damage.
Calcium Channel Blockers: The most popularly prescribed drug, CCBs are also potentially the most deadly. This drug blocks the movement of calcium across cells. This action prevents muscles and blood vessels from contracting. That in turn allows for the vessels to dilate lowering blood pressure.  The problem is it can lower the pressure too quickly and to far. Dizziness, fainting and blurry vision are common side effects. In addition, a study done by Wake Forest University determined that CCBs lead to 40,000 heart attacks a year.

So you take these blood pressure meds and your blood pressure may or may not go down and you might have a heart attack, stroke, congestive heart failure or kidney failure. Do you really want to do that?

If your pressure is at or below 140/100 you can lose 20 points and be at normal blood pressure within 3 weeks or less using natural methods. It's not rocket science but it does require an organized approach and a commitment on your part. It's not as easy as popping a pill but then it won't kill you either.

Natural cures are based around mild exercise, stress management and most importantly, diet. Y making small tweaks in the way you live today you can eliminate the danger that the silent killer disease represents, and avoid the side effects of the medicines.

If you are on meds now don't go off them. Create a realistic plan on how to modify your current lifestyle that will result in a lower blood pressure. Once you have this, go to your doctor and show the plan to him or her and ask why you should not be removed from drugs. If you are convincing, it will be difficult for the MD not to agree with you.

Natural is better. Your heart will thank you.
