May 15, 2012 - PRLog -- Shoppers and scholars in Oxford were treated to a stylish, patriotic display as a quintessentially British fashion show on punts cruised down the River Thames in Oxfordshire. The alternative fashion show, organised by McArthurGlen’s Swindon Designer Outlet, was hosted in celebration of a bumper year of sales to date for the centre’s British brands, which has seen spend up 10.4% as LK Bennett, Hobbs and Ted Baker products fly off the hangers.

McArthurGlen Swindon’s British river pageant took place ahead of the biggest summer in modern history, as the nation counts down to the hotly awaited London 2012 and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. Models decked out in this season’s trends from brands including LK Bennett, Hobbs and Charles Tyrwhitt posed on punts as they followed the same route the Queen will take when she celebrates her Diamond Jubilee in June.

Tina Cumpstey, Centre Manager at McArthurGlen’s Swindon, says, “The UK is set to experience one of the most important summers on record. With key events such as the Olympics attracting shoppers from all over the world and the Diamond Jubilee giving shoppers a reason to indulge in the best of British, we’re delighted to announce these exciting  results for our Swindon outlet, which clearly demonstrate  that people are actively seeking out the leading British brands on offer.”

L.K.Bennett Spokesperson, says, “ As the nation approaches the Queen’s Jubilee, we have never felt more proud to be a British fashion brand.  In this most celebratory of years we are seeing customers opt for bright colours which reflect the mood of the nation in our signature dresses with matching shoes and accessories for every occasion.”

In addition to increasing demand for quintessentially British brands, McArthurGlen’s Swindon also reported storming bank holiday May figures with sales up 33% year on year and footfall up 50%. These successful results come following the introduction of a number of new brands to the centre in 2011, including Kurt Geiger, Fiorelli and Quba & Co.
