The brain child of Screenmobile vice president Monty Walker, the pre-fabricated house was trucked in nine segments from the company’s headquarters in Thousand Palms, CA to The Orleans Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. A service elevator was then used to move the mobile training house to a second floor ballroom where it was assembled. The assembly process took a total of an hour and a half. “Our franchise owners are mechanically minded individuals who appreciated the extra effort,” said Walker. “During a demonstration, I could see smiles appearing on faces and heads nodding in agreement when our franchisees experienced their ‘ah-ha’ moment. That was very exciting for us as a company.” The training house was used by product vendors to demonstrate the proper techniques for installing; retractable screens, roll-down screens, single and double-sided retractable doors, patio enclosures and awnings. The demonstrations were augmented by cameras feeding a live video signal to a large presentation display that all attendees could easily see. http://www.flickr.com/ “At first, I sensed apprehension from the vendors not knowing if they would be able to work with the house,” said Walker. “But once they arrived and saw its real-world specs and sturdy construction they welcomed the opportunity to show off their products and their installation skills.” The decision was made to include the Mobile Training House at this year’s convention after other efforts at training franchisees had fallen flat. Those efforts include bus tours of vendor manufacturing facilities and power point presentations accompanied by detailed written instructions. “The needs of our customers are ever evolving, said David Winters, owner of Screenmobile in Charlotte, NC. “The mobile training house helps us provide additional products and better serve our customers. The process of constructing a complete sunroom addition did not seem as daunting as it originally did on paper.” “Nothing compares to the hands-on training experience the house has provided our franchisees,” About Screenmobile Corporation Screenmobile is a mobile screen repair and replacement service that custom builds screens on-site to fit any shape or size of frame for homes, businesses and multi-unit apartment complexes.
