Continuing the tradition of the Herm Edwards Football Camp, the Johnson-Toney Football Camp is non-contact, serving boys and girls 9-17 years of age. At last year's inaugural Johnson-Toney Football Camp, over 325 youth participated. This year’s camp, once again presented by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monterey County, is expected to attract 500 youth. Edwards’ increased work and family commitments prompted him to turn the camp over to the Boys & Girls Club in 2011. “Ron Johnson and Anthony Toney with the Boys & Girls Club did a great job running the camp last year. It was first class and most importantly - it’s still free for the kids.” Edwards said. "Anthony and I run the camp basically using the model that Herm Edwards built", said Ron Johnson, the VP of Operations for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monterey County. We now have 2 extra days in the program, so there is more time for players to receive additional coaching at their individual positions. Herm developed one of the most successful football camps in the country, and it’s important that we build on that.” Johnson said. Space is limited to the first 500 youth aged 9-17, living in Monterey County. Registration forms are available online at www.bgcmc.org and at local youth centers. Camp expenses this year will total slightly over $12,000. Businesses or individuals wishing to make donations to help cover camp costs may contact the Boys & Girls Club, Seaside Clubhouse, or donate online by visiting the Boys & Girls Club website above.
