Undeclared Allergen Causes Recall of Sienna Bakery Brand Cookies

June 13, 2012 - PRLog -- The potential presence of walnut allergens in Sienna Bakery Brand’s oatmeal raisin and white chocolate macadamia nut cookies has prompted a recall. The boxes are labeled as “White Chocolate Macadamia Nut,” but fail to mention that the boxes include Oatmeal Walnut Raisin cookies inside as well.

The Sienna Bakery Brand Cookies, made by Best Maid Cookie Company in River Falls, WI, were sold throughout Gordon Food Service Marketplace and Delivery Services in the states of Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and West Virginia, through May 11th to June 7th.

Many Americans suffer from food allergies, particularly those triggered by nuts. Symptoms of an allergy reaction can be mild to severe, including rashes, itching, congestion, difficulty breathing and swallowing, abdominal pain, cramps, vomiting, and dizziness.
