By: Hometown History Tours These are just a few of the many local sites featured on the new Southeast Michigan Sightseeing Tour offered by Hometown History Tours which launches Sunday, June 24, 2012. The narrated tour follows the twists and turns of the Detroit and Raisin Rivers from Wyandotte to Monroe and recounts the significance these important waterways played in the development of the region. “People will be amazed by the interesting social, military and industrial history which occurred here,” said Karin Risko, Hometown History Tours founder and tour guide. In addition to history, the tour showcases unique natural resources and new greenway developments which include biking and hiking trails, wetlands and one of the best spots in eastern North America to see the autumn migration of over two dozen species of raptors such as eagles, kites, falcons, owls and vultures. "The Pure Michigan image people conjure up when they hear those great Tim Allen ads is all around us," said Risko. "It isn't just found Up North or in far away places. It's right here in southeast Michigan. That's what this tour highlights." The tour departs from the Hometown History Tours ticket office at 150 Maple in Wyandotte at 12:30 p.m. and returns at 5:30 p.m. Additional tour dates are July 22 and August 19. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for children and can be purchased online at http://hometownhistorytours.com. Advance sales are recommended as motor coach seating is limited. "You won't find a motor coach tour of this length or caliber anywhere for $20," adds Risko. "We're able to offer such great rates thanks to a grant from Downriver Linked Greenways and Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan." End
