Follow on Google News | UT Ducks Unlimited 1st Annual Flaming Gorge Fishing Derby - A Success!(Manila, UT) – This past June 23rd & 24th many volunteers and anglers participated in the Utah State Ducks Unlimited 1st Annual Flaming Gorge Fishing Derby.
Cash prizes were handed out to first, second and third place in the following divisions: Lake Trout (a minimum length of 36”) 1st Place $1000 – Jackie Hill 2nd Place $500 – Tom Stewart 3rd Place $250 – Mike Musselman Kokanee Salmon (18” or longer) 1st Place $1000 – Darren Schroeder 2nd Place $500 – Dave Lahage 3rd Place $250 – Jack Blackham Rainbow Trout (18” or longer) 1st Place $1000 – Jennie Lahage 2nd Place $500 – Kyle Gutierrez 3rd Place $250 – Rocky Rochford Small Mouth Bass 1st Place $1000 – Rocky Rochford 2nd Place $500 – Karen O 'Neill 3rd Place $250 – Tory Thomas QUOTES FROM SPECIAL GUESTS IN ATTENDANCE The event organizer, Marty Price, was extremely pleased with the turn out and donations from the sponsors. “I felt over all that the derby was a major success. We made mistakes, and that is expected for our first year and we will learn from it. Next year we will be ready for a bigger & better derby.” Marty also heard from organizers of other fishing events. “The people from the Villa derby committee pulled me aside and said it was a class act derby. They were very impressed with our committee and prizes.” Other comments from the derby included: "I fish in tournaments all year and all over the place, you guys did awesome!
