By: Staff The Flash will host the National Premier Soccer League Championships (NPSL) right here in San Diego from July 26 - 28. The Championship weekend will be a 'Final Four' style, 3 day event. Winners of four Conferences of the 49 teams nationwide, will earn their way to San Diego through playoffs which begin in mid-July. The Flash is looking to create history by winning the National Championship in front of its hometown fans in the San Diego soccer community. The Flash players will also be doing their bit for charity on the night, when they go ‘pink’ to help raise awareness for breast cancer. Pink corner flags, players tape, referee’s whistle and linesman’s flags will provide the backdrop for Poway junior soccer players to raise much needed funds for the San Diego Affiliate of the Susan G Komen Foundation for the Cure. This weekend marks the final home game of the regular season prior to the finals campaign and the club is showing their appreciation of the Flash fans by providing the first 250 people through the gate with a special NPSL Conference Champions team poster. Players will also be on hand after the game to sign the posters as a keep sake from a very special season to date. Flash Head Coach, Warren Barton is also looking forward to what he has said is “the perfect game for us right now”. “We have already sewn up our finals spot and first place in the Conference. Fullerton on the other hand are fighting for that last finals spot, so they will be coming to San Diego needing to come away with a good result. “This will be a great test for our team as Fullerton will be treating this game like a finals match. Winner take all and a desperation that most teams have failed to show against us this season. “Being undefeated is not high on my agenda right now but maintaining our form and momentum is. It should be a great game!” Barton said. Flash CEO, Clent Alexander, said this was a celebration of the clubs achievements and sharing that with the local community would be special. “We place a high emphasis on community engagement. Supporting the local area through partnerships such as the one with the Kickin’ It Challenge, that we will be celebrating on Sunday is very important to all of us. They had a very successful tournament last weekend and raised lots of money for a cure. Now it’s our turn to put on a show. I think we might see somewhat of a carnival atmosphere on Sunday given everything that has happened since a couple of announcements we made on our Facebook page over the past week” Alexander said. This weekend’s match against the Fullerton Rangers kicks off at 8pm, Sunday July 1 at Del Norte High School, 16601 Nighthawk Lane, San Diego, CA 92127. Fans can purchase tickets online and will receive 20% off face value if booked before Saturday. Visit www.SanDiegoFlashSoccer.com for more info. Fans who wear pink on the day will also receive free entry as a way of saying thank you for helping raising awareness in the bleachers. End
